Quarter 2 is just beginning and right now a lot of us might be reflecting on the goals we made for the new year and either didn’t quite start yet, or are looking to get back on track and set new ones moving forward.
You’re in luck because we are here to not only chat goals, but give you a new way to plan out your goals with a method that takes out the overwhelm and stress of goal setting.
Our formula is simple: think of today and the next 5 days. THAT’S IT. Sounds easy enough?
Breaking it down further into a weekly layout, it looks like this:
SET-UP SUNDAY
Thinking of your goal, what achievable actions do you need to complete in order to work up to your goal? Ex. if the goal is to move more, what small action could you do this week in order to get you moving more? Ex. 3x30 minute walks a week? Sound do-able?
Next, AUDIT your time in the week. Think about all of your priorities, work, school, sports etc. If you are a visual person, highly recommended even if you aren’t, start using a paper and pen planner, or your choice of digital calendar. Plug in all of your activities to see where your time is being spent. Next, SCHEDULE in your achievable action. Make these a priority appointment for yourself - SHOW UP.
MONDAY-WEDNESDAY: ACTIONS
WEDNESDAY: MID-WEEK CHECK-IN
Thinking of the last three days only, ask yourself the following questions and BE HONEST.
What worked?
What didn’t?
Were you consistent with your actions? Why or why not?
Did something come up where you had to put your action to the back burner?
Where can you modify to continue this week?
Do you need to reschedule any actions?
Rather than throwing in the towel and restarting, allow yourself to reassess and modify your current week and keep moving forward!
THURSDAY-FRIDAY: ACTIONS
FRIDAY: END-WEEK DEBRIEF
Again, ask yourself the following questions and BE HONEST. You are collecting feedback here and the data counts.
What worked?
What didn’t?
Were you consistent with your actions? Why or why not?
Did something come up where you had to put your action to the back burner?
Write down your answers and carry them forward for your next Set-up Sunday. This will help you to make any modifications or adjustments for your upcoming week. Remember, it’s about modifying, not restarting.
THAT'S IT!
Working with this method allows you to focus on 5 days at a time to build a solid foundation slowly rather than being bombarded with overwhelm when thinking of your goal.
Keep crushing your goals!
